Welcome to Psycho Styrene Modeling Magazine, The philosophy behind this publication is to fill in the gaps that are left by most of the print magazines that cater to modelers since the demise of SCI-FI & Fantasy modeler as a monthly publication, and that this magazine should be a magazine for modelers made by modelers who love SCI-FI and Fantasy.
I’m hoping that we will be able to fill this publication with projects, for both the beginner and the more advanced modeler to try, hints and tips to help newbie modelers, as well as being a show case for your work. I am also hoping to see some out of the box builds/reviews to let other modelers know what great kits are out there currently, there will also be interviews with modelers, model companies and some pro model makers.
OK that’s enough of me rambling on here if you have any questions or would like to contribute to this publication, feel free to contact us |
Psycho Styrene is a side interest off a company I started up about two years ago called Retro Modern Models, It was created to supply the model, small toy companies and primarily the amateur animator, with a models, parts, supplies, and design service, but as so many things go I ended up doing a lot more design, print and web creation services than actual model making and not to the arena that I was aiming at in most cases.
Jump on two years and I reached a place where I was fed up with what I was doing and had become, so I came up with an idea for a online magazine, the people a suggested it to were not interested and the project between us fell through, so left with a good idea and no name I banged it around for a few weeks and when I told my other half about it she suggested that a put it to use for my self and after a quick brainstorming session over lunch in subs we came up with the name and the magazine was born
While I still do the design and web site construction services, I find that creating this magazine every two months is a great way to give back to a hobby that has given me a great deal of pleasure over the years.
And now as we are starting to move into creating online tutorials for an animation site the company is coming almost full circle to its genesis, we are also hoping to go into creating tutorial DVD’s on model making, painting, moulding, casting, scratch building, sculpting, diorama construction and any other topic that people are looking for help on.
Thanks for reading this and enjoy the magazine |
